Food Bank Fun

Parkside’s philanthropic efforts should not be swept under the rug. At our onboarding with Joyce, just a week or two into the internship, she touched on how she has been involved with Parkside’s philanthropic efforts over her time here. Our meeting with Joyce was informational as well as inspiring.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 17th we had the opportunity to go to the St. Louis Foodbank and volunteer by packaging boxes of food. Our tasks included running the tape machine, including a recipe for the food included in the box, and breaking down the packaging and recycling the empty boxes. These tasks may not seem like much, but when combined with the assembly line style of volunteering, we were able to package 21,963 pounds of food for those that need it most in the bi-state area!

Our day at the St. Louis Foodbank with our mentors solidified Parkside’s love for serving the community. We really enjoyed working alongside our mentors in an out of office environment and getting to talk to them more. It felt great to make a difference in our community and be a part of St. Louis Foodbank’s mission to provide equitable access to food. We are so grateful to be part of an organization that prioritizes giving back to the community.
