Community Service
This year, the intern class and their mentors were able to spend a meaningful day of service at Ranken Jordan. Ranken Jordan is a local pediatric bridge hospital that provides care for children who are experiencing complex medical conditions. They support the children and their families during the difficult transition between intense hospital care and returning home. Ranken Jordan is truly special in that there are only a handful of hospitals in the country that provide similar services. We were able to spend a day at the facilities where we spent time with the children and their caretakers. We were also able to have constructive conversations with the hospital staff, where we learned about their mission and values as an organization. Throughout the day we organized a bingo game for the caretakers, contributed a gift basket as a prize for the games, received a tour of the facilities, decorated the hospital with summery decorations, and threw a beach party for the patients.
Throughout the internship, it was obvious that community service is a core value of the bank. During one of our Lunch N Learns, Joyce spoke extensively about the importance of giving back and her personal connections. She has acted as a spokesperson for Parkside and is constantly raising awareness for various organizations and works hard in coordinating opportunities for involvement of Parkside staff. It was eye opening to see how deep her love for giving back spreads. We are so grateful that we were able to have this opportunity and see how Parkside invests back in their community.
