Kaitlyn Buss

Saint Louis University
Finance & Marketing

Do you know where you hope to be in your future post college?

After graduation, I hope to be working in the finance industry. I also plan to continue my education and get an MBA and my CFA or CFP. I am not exactly sure where the future will take me, but I enjoy working with people and building relationships with them. I hope to have a role after graduation that allows me to do that!

What part of this internship excites you the most?

I am so excited to work with my mentors and rotate through the different offices this summer. This will be an amazing opportunity to learn more about the finance world and what interests me. I am also excited to make connections with the people here at Parkside. Everyone seems so kind and welcoming and I would love to learn from them.

What would you like to achieve over the summer?

This summer, I hope to discover which area of finance interests me the most! I look forward to rotating through the different offices and seeing what everyone does each day.

Is there anyone here you really hope to meet, or a specific role you’d hope to learn most about?

I am so excited to meet everyone here at Parkside! If I had to pick a specific role to learn more about, I would choose Wealth Management. I hope to learn more about managing assets and working with clients.

Matthew Sommers

University of Dayton
Finance & Entrepreneurship

Do you know where you hope to be in your future post college?

I hope to be working in a big city such as Chicago or Dallas at a startup business of some kind.

What part of this internship excites you the most?

The part of this internship that excites me the most is the opportunity to talk to so many great people. Everyone in this office has so much wisdom and advice for the younger generation and their experience is invaluable. I look forward to all the conversations to come!

What would you like to achieve over the summer?

I would like to achieve more knowledge in banking and why banking is so popular. Banks help the economy in numerous ways and I’d love to learn more about how the power of banks can change neighborhoods and cities alike.

Is there anyone here you really hope to meet, or a specific role you’d hope to learn most about?

Allen Palmquist has a fascinating career role! I admire his character, personality, and openness. He is great at talking to people and I hope to master that as I get older.

Madeline Farroll

Providence College
Finance & Accounting

Do you know where you hope to be in your future post college?

I hope to be working in a role that allows me to frequently interact with clients. I love to problem-solve and build relationships, and I believe a client-based role allows me to accomplish both of these. I would like to live in a different city, ideally Boston, immediately after graduation, and then see where my career takes me from there!

What part of this internship excites you the most?

I am most excited to compare concepts I have learned about in school to the application of similar ideas in real-world situations. Being able to draw connections between a topic and its application helps me learn best, so I am positive I am going to learn plenty over the next ten weeks. Additionally, I look forward to gaining more exposure to different careers in finance so I can determine where my strengths and interests are best suited!

What would you like to achieve over the summer?

By the end of the summer, I hope to have a better understanding of the different paths I can take in my future after graduation and narrow down what will be a best fit for me!

Is there anyone here you really hope to meet, or a specific role you’d hope to learn most about?

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone! I’d love to learn more about the structure of a team and understand everyone’s individual responsibilities, and how advisors and analysts work together to form trustworthy relationships with the clients on the wealth management side.

Catherine Roth

Texas Christian University
Finance & Accounting

Do you know where you hope to be in your future post college?

After graduation, I hope to be working in some role in the finance industry. I am specifically drawn to a role centered in investments. I am also looking for more of a client-facing career, where I can build relationships and trust. I want to broaden my horizons by moving to a new, bigger city like Chicago or Dallas. I cannot wait to see what my future holds!

What part of this internship excites you the most?

I am most excited to look at real world applications of financial concepts that I have learned in school. Through the rotations of commercial banking and trust and family offices, I will be able to study the interactions between advisors and their clients. I am also excited to get to know the entire Parkside team. Everyone has been extremely welcoming, and I am looking forward to growing these relationships over the summer.

What would you like to achieve over the summer?

This summer, I want to learn as much as I can about the financial industry. Being able to shadow the advisors and analysts has already been super helpful in broadening my understanding and knowledge of various concepts. I hope to end the summer with a clearer notion of what career I want to pursue post-graduation.

Is there anyone here you really hope to meet, or a specific role you’d hope to learn most about?

I am really excited to meet everyone, but I would love to get to know upper management more. Collaborating with the analysts has been amazing, but I want to learn about the different pathways to leadership!

Henry Narkiewicz

Elon University
Business Analytics & Economics

Do you know where you hope to be in your future post college?

I don’t have super elaborate plans for after I graduate college. I’d like to return to St. Louis and find a job as a business analyst. I plan to spend a few years at home so I can build up my savings.

What part of this internship excites you the most?

There are two parts of this internship that are the most exciting to me. The first is getting to work in a small company like Parkside. My previous internship was at Nestle Purina so getting to work in a smaller environment where I feel like I get to know the company and the people who work there is exciting to me. The other thing I’m excited about is that I’ll be getting more hands on experience with analytics. Ideally this internship helps me to hone my skills and get a better understanding of what I’ll be doing in the future, while giving me an opportunity to make a positive impact on the company with my work here at Parkside.

What would you like to achieve over the summer?

Like I said before, I’d like to hone my analytics skills and get a better understanding of what I’ll be doing in the future, while giving me an opportunity to make a positive impact on the company with my work here at Parkside. However, I’d also like to build a network this summer and get to know people at Parkside. Developing connections with potential mentors and the other interns can help me broaden my perspective and potentially help me to find a job after this internship concludes.

Is there anyone here you really hope to meet, or a specific role you’d hope to learn most about?

I don’t know if I’d say there’s anyone I’d like to meet more so than I’d just like to get to know the people around me. I’d like to become friends with the other interns. The role that I’d like to know the most is Shelby’s role as the data analyst. I’d like to leave this summer with a concrete understanding of the role and how I can effectively preform a similar role going forward.
