Book Club
One of the great experiences during the internship program was our intern book club with Bob Grunzinger, Senior Vice President of the Trust & Family Office. We read ‘Misbehaving’ by Richard Thaler, whose wit and writing style reminded us of books by Malcolm Gladwell.
If you’ve taken intro to microeconomics you’ve learned a lot about how we should act according to economic theory but, to be honest, we don’t act like that at all. Misbehaving is about all the times that we don’t act like an economist thinks we should and the theory of behavioral economics.
It was great to have something to talk about with each other throughout the program, it did spark some pretty great discussions/debates. At the end of the internship experience we met with Bob and had a discussion about our thoughts on the book. Bob has a lot of experience and some great insights to share that made for a really interesting conversation between us and him. We hope that he continues the program for the next group of interns!
