Committee Meetings

Committee Meetings

Throughout our Banking and Trust & Family Office rotations, we had the opportunity to sit in on weekly and quarterly committee meetings held by each department.

Loan Committee

In the Banking rotation we sat in on weekly Loan Committee meetings. Loan committee is split into two variations: internal and external. During committee, the lenders present various lending opportunities to their fellow lenders and board of directors. As an intern, it was interesting to hear the various deals that the lenders presented and the different types of companies that the bank worked with. It was also equally as interesting to hear about the complex structure that the deals would take. At first loan committee was difficult to understand, but with the help of our mentors and the lenders, we were able to understand the presentations!

Trust and Family Office Client Committee

In the TFO rotation we sat in on the Trust and Family Office Client Committee (TFOCC) meetings. These meetings are held weekly for all of the TFO employees to inform one another on new and important information. We were able to listen to advisors discuss different ideas for clients, talk through fee options, and give updates on newly added clients. We found it very interesting how even though each advisor has their own set of clients, they all brainstorm options for complex clients together. It is also helpful for an advisor to hear how a fellow colleague handled a similar client situation they are approaching. Being able to watch the different interactions in TFOCC meetings was another great exposure aspect offered to us throughout our experience.
