Learning + Hunger = Lunch Outings 🍽️

During our 10 weeks with the mentors, we not only learned about the finance industry, but also the food industry. Our mentors constantly taught us about aspects of their careers, often spilling into extensive conversations over lunch. They introduced us to countless new restaurants in Clayton, which quickly became some of our favorite areas in Saint Louis. One of the most memorable lunch outings we embarked on was to Chipotle. We know this may seem like an odd place, because Chipotle is everywhere, however, it was a first-time experience for Cameron. All of the interns and Family Office analysts were able to share this great bonding experience with him.

Learning + Projects = Group Meetings 🤝

Since our start at Parkside, we have hit the ground running and delved into our rotations. Cameron & Anjali started in the Family Office. Jessie & Graham began their rotation in Commercial Banking. Immediately, we were immersed in the work of our mentors to acclimate us to the culture and pace of Parkside. We had many meetings held in conference rooms. Initially, they were difficult for us to locate as there were so many. With reminders and guidance from our mentors, we caught on and learned how to use the conference room systems. Now we feel like seasoned professionals. Conference rooms were a big part of our development at Parkside. We learned about each other, had Lunch N' Learns, were assigned projects, and bombarded our mentors with countless questions in these rooms.

Learning + Technology = Laughter 😂

While working on projects, we utilized various technology. Parkside has integrated numerous technological systems that we interacted with. This exposure has positioned us to be outliers compared to our peers and provided us with skills beneficial to our careers. Learning to navigate and use these technologies was not “easy peasy, lemon squeezy.” We constantly asked our mentors questions and unlocked shocking features within these systems. It led to great laughs in every rotation and our added benefit of leaving a mark on Parkside as our time comes to an end.

First Week + Mentors = Topgolf ⛳

During our first week as we got acclimated to Parkside we were surprised with the opportunity to play and get to know our mentors at Topgolf! At the beginning of the outing we were all nervous but by the end of the outing we had loss those nerves and were chatting away as we knew each other for years. It was fantastic to learn from past interns (Drake & Britni), compete for the winner of Angry Birds (Cameron & Christine), and learn that some of the mentors and interns attended the same university (Quin, Matthew, & Graham). This was a great way to help us get acclimated to Parkside and the food was delicious as well.
